Ancient treatments
for a modern world

About me
Hi, I'm Richard. I am an acupuncturist specialising in Five Element Acupuncture. I studied for my DipAc in Traditional Five Element Acupuncture at the International College of Acupuncture (ICA) accredited by The Acupuncture Society and the Complementary Medicine Association.
I believe in a holistic approach to wellbeing, and view our physical, mental and emotional challenges as being interlinked, and connected to energetic imbalance at a deep level. Through acupuncture I aim to help restore this balance to stimulate healing and growth.
What is Five Element Acupuncture?

Five Element Acupuncture is a unique approach to health and wellbeing based on the Traditional Chinese Medicine practice of acupuncture, where very fine needles are inserted into points along meridians (energy pathways) that trace our bodies to restore the balance of Qi (the body's vital life force).
Five Element Acupuncture uses the concept of the five natural elements of wood, fire, earth, metal and water to diagnose and treat Qi imbalance. These elements represent the changing seasons of the natural world, and Chinese wisdom believes that they form the building blocks of our inner world too. Over time these elements lose their balance, leading to the physical, mental and emotional challenges we all face.
I work with you to diagnose your elemental disharmony and use fine needles to stimulate and balance meridians, boosting your wellbeing at source and supporting lasting improvements to your quality of life.

About acupuncture
Acupuncture is a holistic approach to wellness that contrasts with conventional medicine as it aims to treat the root cause, as well as the presenting symptoms. It seeks to understand how imbalances in our energy pathways are impacting the entire system.
Acupuncture was, for thousands of years, mainstream medicine in China, and used to treat a wide variety of ailments and conditions. It remains a highly effective solution to today's challenges, supporting long-term benefits to your health and wellbeing.
Can it help me?
Acupuncture is commonly used to treat conditions ranging from chronic pain, muscular injury and digestive issues, to stress, anxiety and low mood. It can also help with lifestyle challenges such as migraines, insomnia, fatigue and obstacles to fertility.
While treating the presenting symptoms, acupuncture will always aim to establish and remedy your deeper energetic imbalance at source. This helps the body to help itself, and helps you feel more like you, as your body, mind and spirit fall into harmony again.
What is treatment like?
An initial consultation will allow us to get to know each other and discuss your history, so that we can explore your unique underlying patterns of disharmony (we all have them!) and devise a personalised treatment plan. This consultation will also include your first treatment.
Treatments include gently inserting fine needles to stimulate a combination of acupuncture points. Points most commonly used are on the forearms, lower legs, abdomen and back. Acupuncture has a cumulative effect, so the benefits of treatment tend to build up over time with repeated sessions, though many feel positive effects after just one treatment.
As treatments progress, we will monitor your state of health and wellbeing, fine-tune treatment as necessary, and continue to work together to maintain your mind, body and spirit balance.
How much does it cost?
Initial consultation and treatment (90 minutes): £75
Standard follow-up appointments (60 minutes): £50
Bundle of 5 standard follow-up appointments: £225
Where do treatments take place?
Treatments take place at the Wheatley Complementary Therapy Clinic.
The village of Wheatley has excellent road and bus links with nearby Oxford.
